West Bengal Kharif Paddy Procurement Scheme Online Registration Process

Nearly 13 lakh of an estimated 72 lakh paddy farmers in West Bengal have registered themselves for the scheme so far. This would not only help meet its procurement target for the supply of free rice to nearly 19 crore people till June 2021 but also pre-empt distress sale by farmers and stabilize the price of rice in the market.

The new WB Kharif Paddy Procurement Scheme aims to procure paddy to maintain an unhindered supply of rice for our public distribution system. The scheme will be rolled out soon and West Bengal govt. will start procuring paddy in the December 2020 end.

Procedure to Apply Online Rice Mill Registration Application Form 2023

West Bengal WB Kharif Paddy Procurement Scheme 2023: Rice Mill Registration Online Application Form PDF Download –  The procurement would be a mix of rabi (boro) and Kharif (amon) at a minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 1,855 per quintal since the procurement process of paddy harvested during the Kharif season had to be stopped due to the lockdown. The main objective which will be fulfilled through this scheme will be the support to the farmers of the West Bengal state. Last year, the maximum procurement went up to 90 quintals for every farmer at an MSP of Rs 1,868 per quintal. Under the scheme, the government aims to enrol over 30 lakh farmers, state food and civil supplies minister Jyotipriya Mallick said. A super harvest this season and low demand have hit paddy prices, which have fallen below the government-announced minimum support price (MSP), a senior official of the agriculture department said. SCHEME OBJECTIVE

The Government is planning to reach out to as many farmers as possible, with an aim to procure paddy to maintain an unhindered supply of rice for our public distribution system. The scheme will be rolled out soon and we will start procuring paddy later this month. The Government is planning to impose a ceiling on the amount of paddy to be procured from each farmer. This will help us enrol more and more farmers under this scheme.

The government will also purchase about 45 quintals of paddy from each farmer. The maximum procurement was 90 quintals at an MSP of Rs 1,868 per quintal last year; the maximum procurement at MSP this year will be 45 quintals. Paddy prices in the market are way below the MSP, hovering around Rs 1,200-Rs 1,300 a quintal.

The government will be providing free rice to approximately 10 crore people in the West Bengal State till the month of June 2021. The government will start procuring the rest of 22 lakh tonne from the first week of May and that will shortly ease pressures from the market. The state announced procuring 52 lakh tonne of paddy this year out of which 30 lakh tonne has already been procured. Under the West Bengal Kharif paddy procurement scheme, around 13 lakh farmers are enrolled by the concerned organization. Around 7200000 paddy farmers will be registered in the WB Kharif paddy procurement scheme. The state also has plans to set up a special surveillance system to ensure that the enrolled farmers sell their harvest to the government and not to hoarders.
