The travel restrictions in place in 27 districts have been extended to eleven districts which have high Covid-19 cases. The public will be allowed to travel in rented cars, taxis and in auto rickshaws after e-registration. The eleven districts are Coimbatore, the Nilgiris, Tirupur, Erode, Salem, Karur, Namakkal, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Mayiladuthurai. All people traveling within their district or traveling between districts or entering Tamil Nadu from other states/countries should register in this portal. To register for the e-pass, individuals have to visit the official website eregister.tnega.org and select one of the two options – International passenger or Interstate/intrastate passenger. After selecting the appropriate option, they have to enter the mobile number and the security number displayed on the screen. Thereafter, they must enter the OTP received on their mobile number and click on the “Login” option.

After logging in, applicants have to choose between three options – 1. Individual or group travel via road, 2. Individual or group entering Tamil Nadu via flight and, 3. Commercial establishments, organisation, services, industries, businesses, financial companies, and traders. After selecting the appropriate option, applicants have to provide certain important details regarding their travel. These include basic information, reasons for travel and documents of proof. Once all these formalities are completed, an e-pass shall be issued.

Step 1- Visit the Official Website of TN e-Registration Portal i.e. eregister.tnega.org.

Step 2- On the Homepage, you will land on an e-registration page and will be required to enter your contact number and Captcha code. Then you will receive an OTP which will then be verified and you will enter the main page.

Step 3- You will get two options. One option will be for travel from a foreign country and the second option will be for inter, intra-district and inter-state travel registration for individuals, industries and self-employed professionals.

Step 4- After choosing the appropriate option, From the main page, you will have to choose from the following options:

– Individual/group travel via road (bike/car/SUV) (within a district, inter-district, inter-state).

– An individual/group coming inside Tamil Nadu via train/flight.

– Commercial establishments/organisation industries/business/traders/financial companies.

– Self-employed professionals (bike/car).

Procedure to follow for individual/group travel:

To apply for e-registration, an individual/group is required to fill in details like applicant name, ID proof number, travel date, no of passengers including the applicant, vehicle number, travel range (intra, inter-district or inter-state), reason for travel document and the type of vehicle. The applicant will also be required to upload a copy of the ID proof. The person will then be directed to the travel and document page.

The applicant will get a PDF of their e-registration once it is approved.

An application for an organization must be made by a designated officer. An individual cannot apply directly.

The officer is required to fill in details like type of industry, organisation name and address, district and pin code, the total number of employees in the organisation, name of the authorized person alongside his email address and ID proof and submit the form.
