Summary: The government of Telangana had launched the “Telangana Crop Loan Waiver Scheme 2022” and invited online application forms for the Farmer Crop Loan Waiver. The State government has given administrative sanction for the release of ₹1,210 crore for implementing the first phase of crop loan waiver scheme – to repay the debt of farmers up to ₹25,000, including the principal amount and interest per family.
In his budget speech, Minister for Finance T. Harish Rao announced in the Legislative Assembly on March 8 that the State government had already made a provision to release ₹1,198 crore towards writing off the debt of farmers up to ₹25,000 during the month of March itself.
The State government has issued guidelines for implementation of the scheme on Tuesday and as part of it, the commercial and cooperative banks have been asked to furnish the details of farmers having debt up to ₹25,000 as on December 11, 2018.

As announced by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao in the State Assembly to fulfill his electoral promise, the crop loans upto Rs 25,000 will be waived off in the first phase. For all other eligible farmers, the outstanding loan amount above Rs 25,000 and upto Rs 1 lakh will be waived off in four installments over a period of next four years. |
