Government providing free laptops for youth 2020: The Tamil Nadu government will distribute laptops free of cost to nearly 5 lakh students in 2020-21 at a budget allocation of ₹949 crore.

Tamil Nadu Free Laptop Scheme Online Registration Process

Under this scheme, the State Govt will distribute free Laptop to Class 10th & 12th students. The cost of the TN Free Laptop Scheme is around Rs 1,340 crore. The state govt will soon release Online Registration & Application Form for Free Laptop Scheme 2020.

Procedure to Apply Online Tamil Nadu Free Laptop Scheme Application Form 2020

Step 1- Visit the Official Website of Tamil Nadu Free Laptop Scheme i.e. https://it.tn.gov.in/.

Step 2- On the Homepage, You will see the login page on the homepage of the website.

Step 3- Applicants can log in to the website by entering their name, password, and captcha code.

Step 4- After this, a registration form will show on the screen.

Step 5- In this registration form, you have to provide all the necessary information. Here students will be asked their roll number, class and other details.

Step 6- Finally, the students have to click on submit after checking the information entered in the registration form.

Beneficiary Guidelines

Permanent resident of Tamil Nadu can avail this scheme benefits Preference will be given to the schedule caste and schedule tribe category An applicant who passed 10th or 12th standard examination from a government or aided school can avail the benefits of this scheme The disqualification, however, has an exemption clause. If students who failed to clear Class XII have enrolled themselves in a polytechnic course, they would be eligible to get the free laptops.

Tamil Nadu Free Laptop Scheme 2020: Online Application Form PDF Download – The Government of Tamil Nadu is implementing the scheme of distribution of laptop computers to the students studying in Government and Government-aided schools and colleges in the state to facilitate them in acquiring better skills. Government have issued orders in G.O. (Ms) No.1, dated 03.06.2011 by the Special Programme Implementation Department for the procurement of laptop computers to ELCOT. Under the free laptop distribution scheme, a total of 51.67 lakh laptops have so far been distributed to students at a total cost of ₹7,258 crore from 2011-12 to 2019-2020 (up to February 2020), says a Policy Note of the Special Programme Implementation Department, which monitors the implementation of various schemes/programmes of the State government. The ineligible names will now be removed and a fresh indent will be submitted to Electronics Corporation of India (ELCOT), the state agency which procures these laptops.

This was mainly driven by the second phase of shipments to the Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Ltd. (ELCOT) under its ongoing initiative of free distribution of laptops, according to International Data Corporation (IDC). The scheme to distribute cost-free laptops to students from government and aided schools, colleges and polytechnic institutes was launched in 2011 by former chief minister M Karunanidhi.
