The government has also started the Government of India Solar Roof Top Scheme to promote solar energy. Under this scheme, any citizen can get solar panels installed on his roof for free. To install a 1 KW solar panel, 10 square meters of space is required. Solar panels can be availed for up to 25 years. Its full cost is paid for in 5-6 years after which it can be availed free of cost for 19-20 years.

- Install the solar plant yourself or get it installed on RESCO model (investment will be done by the developer instead of you).
