Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme 2023 Apply Online

Summary: Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) is implemented by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and is a central sector scheme. Under this scheme, loans ranging from Rs. 10 to Rs. 25 lakh for unemployed youth of the country to start their own employment.

The scheme is implemented by Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) as the nodal agency at the national level. At the state level, the scheme is implemented through State KVIC Directorates, State Khadi and Village Industries Boards (KVIBs) and District Industries Centres (DICs) and banks.

PMEGP Yojana Online Registration Process

The Modi government’s flagship Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) has disbursed 83 per cent of the applications for margin money claim so far in the current financial year to set-up new micro-enterprises across the country, as per the government data available.

The State/Divisional Directors of KVIC in consultation with KVIB and Director of Industries of respective states (for DICs) will give advertisements locally through print & electronic media inviting applications along with project proposals from prospective beneficiaries desirous of establishing the enterprise/ starting of service units under PMEGP.

The beneficiaries can also submit their application online at https://www.kviconline.gov.in/pmegpeportal/pmegphome/index.jsp and take the printout of the application and submit the same to respective offices along with Detailed Project Report and other required documents.

Procedure to Apply Online PMEGP Scheme Application Form 2023

Step 1- Visit the Official Website of Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme i.e. www.kviconline.gov.in.

Step 2- On the Homepage, Click on the Option “PMEGP Option” button.

Step 3- On this page you will see the option of PMEGP E -Portal.

Step 4- After that, you have to click on the option of Online Application Form of Individual .

Step 5- Application Form page will be displayed on the screen.

Step 6- Now, Fill out the entire form by entering details like name, sponsoring agency, type of activity, first financing bank and so on.

Step 7- When completed, click on ‘save applicant data’

PMEGP Eligibility Criteria

PMEGP Beneficiary Guidelines
  • Any individual, above 18 years of age.
  • Only new projects/units are considered for sanction of loans.
  • Institutions registered under Societies Registration Act, 1860. Production Co-operative Societies and Charitable Trusts are also eligible.
  • Self-help groups that have not availed benefits under any other public scheme, societies, production co-operative societies, and charitable trusts.
  • The beneficiary individual must be at least 8th standard pass for setting up for projects costing above Rs 10 lakh in the manufacturing sector and above Rs 5 lakh in the business or service sector.

Who are not eligible?

Existing Units (under PMRY, REGP or any other scheme of Government of India or State Government) and the units that have already availed Government Subsidy under any other scheme of Government of India or State Government are NOT eligible.

It integrated two earlier schemes, viz. Prime Minister’s Rojgar Yojana (PMRY) and the Rural Employment Generation Programme (REGP) that were working along similar lines to generate employment among the youth. The approval of projects under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program (PMEGP) increased 44% during the first five months (April – August) of the financial year 2020-21.

What is the PMEGP loan interest rate?

Loans under the PMEGP scheme incur regular interest rates between 11 and 12%.

What are the main PMEGP loan details?

  • Banks sanction funding up to 90% to 95% of the project cost.
  • On this, the government provides 15% to 35% as margin money or PMEGP subsidy.
  • The remaining 60% to 75% is provided by the bank as a term loan.
  • Interest rates are regular, from 11% to 12%.
  • Repayment tenor is 3 to 7 years after a preliminary moratorium.

Applicant applying under this scheme should be over 18 years of age.

  • Maximum Cost of Project/Unit Admissible:
    • Manufacturing Sector: Rs. 25 lakh
    • Service Sector: Rs.10 lakh
  • Government Subsidy:
    • Rural Areas: 25% for general category and 35% for special category, which includes SC/ST/OBC/Minorities, NER, Hill and Border Areas.
    • Urban Areas: 15% for general category and 25% for special category.
