One lakh women of one lakh women group of the state will get the benefit of Mukhyamantri Mahila Utkarsh Yojana. Up to one thousand crore rupees will be given to the loan groups.

Gujarat government has launched a scheme that will support the women of Gujarat state by getting an interest free loan. The government is planning to provide interest-free loans to 10 lakh women across the state under the new scheme. This scheme was announced on a budget of the Gujarat state on 26th February 2020. Under this scheme, the women of self-help groups(SHGs) can able to take the loan from the government with 0% interest.

SCHEME OBJECTIVE
  • This scheme will help women to start their own small business from their homes.
  • The Gujarat government has decided to introduce a scheme to provide loan sans interest to women to make them self-employed.

Major Benefits

  • The government is planning to provide total lending up to Rs 1,000 crore to these groups to be registered as joint liability and earning group (JLEG).
  • The loans would be made available to the groups through nationalised banks, cooperative banks and the RBI approved financial institutions.

  • The Gujarat government is all set to launch a scheme providing interest-free loans to women’s groups in the state.
  • Under the scheme, loans of ₹1 lakh will be given to women self-help groups (SHGs) each comprising 10 members.
  • Under the MMUY, 50,000 JLEGs will be formed in urban areas.
  • Under the MMUY, 50,000 such groups will also be formed in rural areas.
