Beneficiary Guidelines

Applicant must be a permanent resident of Maharashtra. If a man has two girls, he can get benefits under the Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree Scheme 2021. If a third child is born, then both the first born girls will not get the benefit of this scheme. To get the benefit of this scheme, the annual income of the girl’s family should be Rs 7.5 lakh. For this, it is mandatory to undergo sterilization within 1 year after the birth of a daughter or within 6 months of the birth of another daughter. Interest can be withdrawn only after the girl’s age is 6 years and 12 years. After completion of 18 years of age, both principal and interest can be withdrawn.

According to scheme guidelines, families with an annual income up to seven and a half lakh rupees will also get the benefit. The benefit of the scheme will be given only to those families who are originally residents of Maharashtra. Till the time the second girl is born, the benefit of the scheme will be given. The family will not be entitled to this scheme when a third girl is born. Parents of the girl child are awarded staggered financial incentives for this. At age of 18, provided the girl is not married by then, she is provided 1 Lakh rupees for Skill Development and Higher Education. In order to combat pressure from parents, the Paternal Grandmother is awarded gold coin and certificate by Hon. Minister, WCD Dept.
