The Maharashtra Department of Social Justice and Special Assistance offers scholarships for post-matric level education. This scholarship provides different types of financial assistance such as tuition fees, exam fees, education fees, and maintenance allowance to eligible students. The student must belong to either the Scheduled Caste (SC) or Navbouddha category and be a resident of Maharashtra. They should have passed the SSC or an equivalent matric exam. The scholarship is applicable for only two professional courses. |
Post Matric Tuition Fee and Examination Fee (Freeship) | Annual income should not be more than INR 2.5 Lakh. The student should belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) or Neo Buddhist category. The student should be a resident of Maharashtra. The student should have passed SSC/equivalent matric. The student’s institute should be located in Maharashtra and recognized by the Government. The student should be admitted through the CAP round only. |
Maintenance Allowance for Students Studying in Professional Courses | Students who want to join professional courses can do so if they have a scholarship from the Indian government and if their family’s annual income is INR 2.5 lakh or less. Additionally, students who are studying in a professional curriculum and living in a hostel (either a government or institute hostel or one outside) are also eligible. |
Rajarshri Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Merit Scholarship | To be eligible for the scholarship, the student must be from the SC category and a resident of Maharashtra. They should be currently studying in 11th or 12th grade and have scored 75% or more in their class 10th exams. There is no requirement for the student’s family income to be within a specific limit to be eligible for this scholarship. |
Post-Matric Scholarship for Persons with Disability | Students with a disability (40% or above) who are residents of Maharashtra and studying at a recognized university or institute are eligible to apply. However, the scholarship will not be applicable if the student fails or drops out of the same course. |
Tribal Development Department
The Tribal Development Department offers four types of scholarships under the Post Matric Scholarship through the Mahadbt Scholarship, which are available only for scheduled category students. The scholarship provides financial assistance in the form of tuition fees, examination fees, vocational education fees, and maintenance allowance. To apply for this scholarship, you need to check if you meet the eligibility criteria for the Tribal Development Department scholarship. Directorate of Technical Education
Technical education is generally more expensive than general education, and many academically talented students cannot afford to pursue it. To help these students, the Directorate of Technical Education in Maharashtra offers two types of scholarships for those studying technical courses such as engineering, biotechnology, and architecture. These scholarships provide financial assistance so that students can continue their education without worrying about the financial burden. The details of eligibility criteria of technical education scholarship scheme are as follows:-

They must be a bonafide student of an institute and admitted for professional and technical courses through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP). Students from deemed universities are not eligible. They cannot avail of any other scholarship while applying for this scholarship, and only two children from a family can avail of the benefits per academic year. The total annual income of the family should not exceed INR 8 lakh, and the candidate should have a minimum of 50% attendance in the previous semester. Additionally, there should not be a gap of two or more years during the course duration. |
Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Vastigruh Nirvah Bhatta Yojna (DTE) | To be eligible for this scholarship, the applicant must be an Indian citizen and a resident of Maharashtra. They must be a student of a recognized institute and enrolled in a professional or technical course through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP). Students from deemed universities are not eligible, and they cannot apply for any other scholarship while applying for this scholarship. Only two children from a family can benefit from the scheme per academic year. The total annual income of the family should not exceed INR 8 lakh, and the candidate should have a minimum attendance of 50% in the previous semester. Additionally, there should not be a gap of two or more years during the course duration. |
Directorate Of Higher Education
There is a scholarship scheme available for students who want to pursue higher education but can’t afford it. This scheme provides financial assistance to students who are facing financial issues. The Directorate of Higher Education in Maharashtra offers 13 different types of scholarships to students who are domiciled in Maharashtra.The details of eligibility criteria of the directorate of higher education scholarship scheme are as follows:-

The annual income of the applicant’s family should not be more than INR 8 Lakh. Students who belong to the general category and have taken admission are eligible to apply. The applicant should not be receiving any other scholarship or stipend. The courses that the students are enrolled in should be approved by the government or AICTE. Students must not have taken a break of more than 2 years during their course and must have completed all semester examinations. |
Assistance to Meritorious Students Scholarship – Junior Level | The students from class 11th & 12th class are eligible to apply. The students should have a DHE sanctioned letter. The Maharashtrian students studying out of Maharashtra can apply for this scheme. |
Education Concession to the Children of Ex-Servicemen | The applicant’s son/daughter/wife/widow of ex-servicemen are eligible. The students should be enrolled in government-aided colleges only. The Maharashtrian Students studying out of Maharashtra cannot apply for this scheme. |
Eklavya Scholarship | To be eligible for this scheme, students must have completed a degree course in Law, Commerce & Arts with at least 60% marks or in Science with at least 70% marks. The annual income of the student’s parents should not exceed INR 75,000, and the student must be a resident of Maharashtra. The beneficiary should not be doing any part-time or full-time job. Students from Maharashtra studying outside the state are not eligible for this scheme. |
State Government Open Merit Scholarship | To be eligible for a scholarship in Maharashtra, the applicant must live in the state and have scored a minimum of 60% in their 12th-grade exams. This scholarship is available for students enrolled in Arts, Commerce, Science, and Law courses, but it is not open to Maharashtrian students studying outside of Maharashtra. |
Scholarship to Meritorious Students Possessing Mathematics/Physics | To be eligible for a particular scheme, Class 12 students must score at least 60% in Science and more than 60% in Maths and Physics. However, students from Maharashtra studying outside the state are not eligible to apply. Additionally, applicants must be residents of Maharashtra. |
Government Vidyaniketan Scholarship | To be eligible for the scheme, a student must have scored at least 60% marks in their 10th-grade examination and should have completed it from State Government Vidyanikethan. Also, only students who are residents of Maharashtra can apply for this scheme, and students from Maharashtra studying outside the state are eligible. |
State Government Daxshina Adhichatra Scholarship | To apply for this scheme, you must be a graduate student from a non-agricultural university. Only students who are residents of Maharashtra are eligible to apply. Maharashtrian students who study outside of Maharashtra are not eligible for this scheme. |
Government Research Adichatra | To be eligible for this scheme, you need to have completed a post-graduate degree and be a resident of Maharashtra State. Additionally, you must have scored at least 60% marks in your post-graduation. Please note that only students who are currently studying in Maharashtra can apply for this scheme; those studying outside of Maharashtra are not eligible. |
Education Concession to the Children Freedom Fighter | To be eligible for this scheme, applicants must be the son, daughter, wife, or widow of a freedom fighter. Only students who are domiciled in Maharashtra can apply, and Maharashtrian students studying outside of Maharashtra are not eligible. |

Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh Vasatigruh Nirvah Bhatta Yojna (DHE) | To apply for certain courses in Maharashtra, you must be a resident of the state. If you’re applying for professional courses, you’re eligible if you’re the child of a registered laborer or a small landowner, or both. Your family or guardian’s yearly income should not exceed INR 8 lakh, and you can’t be receiving any other Nirvah Bhatta benefits. Additionally, you must attempt all exams, whether they’re given annually or every semester. |
OBC, SEBC, VJNT & SBC Welfare Department
This scholarship scheme provides financial assistance to students who belong to OBC, VJNT, SEBC, and SBC categories. Only students from these categories can apply, and they must be pursuing government-approved courses to qualify. Before applying, students should check if they meet the eligibility criteria. The family’s yearly income should be less than 8 lakh rupees. Students studying Health Science and other degree courses are eligible. The scholarship is for those studying in government colleges for technical education, whether aided or unaided. Additionally, students pursuing Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, and Fisheries courses can also apply. |
Payment of Maintenance Allowance to VJNT and SBC Students Studying in Professional Courses and Living in Hostel Attached to Professional Colleges | This scholarship is for students who belong to the VJNT and SBC category, have an annual family income of less than INR 1 Lakh and are admitted to hostels in professional colleges. However, if the student takes admission in a government hostel, they won’t be eligible for the scholarship. This scholarship is only for students who are enrolled in professional courses like Engineering, Medical, Veterinary, Architecture, etc. |
Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Merit Scholarship for Students Studying in 11th & 12thStandard of VJNT & SBC Category | This scholarship is for students from Vimukta Jatis, Nomadic Tribes, and Special Backward Classes who are studying in 11th and 12th grade at junior colleges in Maharashtra. There is no limit on the family’s annual income, but students must not have taken a break from studying to qualify. Additionally, applicants must be residents of Maharashtra. |
Post Matric Scholarship to OBC Students | To apply for this opportunity, you must be part of the OBC category, enrolled in government-approved educational courses, and apply through the CAP round for professional courses. Tuition Fees and Examination Fees to SBC Students | To be eligible for the program, the applicants should belong to the SBC category and be residents of Maharashtra. They should also be pursuing government-approved education courses and have an annual family income of less than INR 8 lakh. |
Directorate of Medical Education and Research
The Directorate of Medical Education and Research provides scholarship schemes for students studying in medical and research departments. There are two types of scholarships available: the Rajarshiri Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj fee reimbursement scheme and the DR Panjabrao Deshmukh hostel maintenance allowance. The scholarship covers the fees for vocational training for students who are admitted into government or private ITIs through the central admission process, provided they meet the eligibility criteria. Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth provides scholarships to students who are children of farmers belonging to economically backward classes and are enrolled in diploma/degree/postgraduate/professional courses through centralized admission procedure.
