On August 2, 2021, the West Bengal government introduced the WB Khela Hobe Scheme, a youth empowerment initiative launched by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the Netaji Indoor Stadium. During a rally for Martyrs’ Day on July 21, Banerjee claimed that the BJP administration had blocked over INR 60,000 crore owed to Bengal, due to pure jealousy. “After taking money from our state under GST, the Centre stops the funds that legally belong to us. BJP leaders in Bengal take pride in vandalizing public funding.”
