Inspire Scholarship 2022: Online Application Form PDF Download – “Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE)” is an innovative programme sponsored and managed by the Department of Science & Technology for attraction of talent to Science. The basic objective of INSPIRE is to communicate to the youth of the country the excitements of creative pursuit of science, attract talent to the study of science at an early age and thus build the required critical human resource pool for strengthening and expanding the Science & Technology system and R & D base.

The inspiring scheme has three components which are schemes for early attraction of talent, scholarship for higher education, and opportunity for research careers. The government offers various types of awards, internships, scholarships, and fellowships through this scheme so that each and every student can get the opportunity to pursue higher education.

Awards & Benefits of INSPIRE Scholarship

Courses other than these subjects such as Engineering, Medicine, Military Science, Defense Studies, Agriculture, Psychology, Seed Technology, Anthropology, Home Science, Geography, Economics, Education (including B.Sc.-B.Ed. dual degree course), Bio-technology, Computer Science, Computer Applications, Bio-informatics, Instrumentation, Information Technology, Physical Education, courses in Distance Education mode at the Open Universities and other professional courses are NOT supported.

Types Of Scholarship Under Inspire Scholarship Scheme

Scheme for early attraction of talent or SEAT-

Through Inspire Scholarship Scheme, talented students are attracted to study science. For attracting students Inspire Award of Rs 5000 will be provided to 1 million young learners who are in the age group of 10 to 15 years ranging from class 6 to class 10th. Other than that summer camps are also arranged for 50000 Science students of class 11th on annual basis with the global leaders in science so that students can experience the joy of innovation

Scholarship for higher education or SHE-

In order to increase the participation in higher education in Science intensive programs, this program has been launched. Under this program scholarship and mentorship is provided to 10000 students every year at Rs 0.80 lakh per year. Students of age group 17 to 22 years can take the benefit of this program for undertaking bachelor’s and master’s level education in natural sciences. Through this program, mentorship support is provided to every beneficiary

Assured opportunity for research career or AORC-

This program has been launched in order to retain and nourish talented young scientific human resources in order to strengthen the research and development foundation and base. This program is divided into two sub-components. The first component is to inspire fellowship. Through this fellowship students of age group, 22 to 27 years are offered 1000 scholarships every year in order to carry out a doctoral degree in basic and Applied sciences which include engineering and medicine. The second component is an inspired faculty scheme that offers assured opportunity every year to 1000 postdoctoral researchers who are in the age group of 27 to 32 years in basic and applied science areas for five years through contractual and tenure-track positions

INSPIRE Scholarship 2022 Selection Process

• There is no exam conducted to provide this scholarship. Students are selected on the basis of their marks secured in 12th class.
• Board-wise cutoff marks are released on the official website as a pdf file. Students who have attained equal or more than the cutoff marks are selected for DST Inspire scholarship.
• They will have to open a savings bank account in SBI bank only and link the same with Aadhar. Now upload the scanned file of the self-attested photocopy of the passbook’s first page on the DST web portal.

INSPIRE Scholarship 2022 Validity and Renewal Process

The INSPIRE Scholarship is valid for a maximum period of upto 5 years. However, if a candidate wants to extend the scholarship, they must apply for the renewal. The criteria for the renewal of INSPIRE Scholarship is given below:

• The students applying for renewal need to score at least 60% marks or 7.0 GPA on a 10.0-point scale in the annual examinations each year (or 2 semesters). 
• If the candidate fails to secure the required marks in his/her B.Sc/BS/Int. M.Sc/Int. MS exam, the scholarship for that academic year will be cancelled. 
• The scholarship is resumed in the next academic year if the student’s academic performance is satisfactory.

Inspire Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

Beneficiary Eligibility Guidelines:

• Applicant must be permanent resident of India
• The age of applicant should be 17 to 22 years
• Student must be pursuing their education from recognised University

(a) Meritorious Students with aggregate marks within top 1% of their Class XII examination of any State/ Central Board in India are eligible. In addition, the student must be pursuing courses in Natural and Basic Sciences at the BSc, BS, and Int.MSc/MS level.

(b) Those students who have secured ranks in the JEE of IIT, AIPMT (within top 10000 ranks), and are presently pursuing Natural and Basic Science courses in India at the BSc, BS, Int. MSc/MS level.

(c) Students with aggregate marks within top 1% of their Class XII examination of any State/ Central Board in India and pursuing Integrated M.S. courses in Natural and Basic Sciences at IISERs, NISER and Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Basic Sciences-University of Mumbai, Visva- Bharati , Shanitiniketan.

(d) Students who have been selected under Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) and pursuing Bachelor/ Master level courses in Natural Sciences.
