On August 6, 1945, the US Air Force dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese city of Hiroshima and three days later on the city of Nagasaki. Due to which about 80 thousand people were burnt to ashes in a moment, about 1.40 lakh people were killed including the later times. The bomb that fell on Hiroshima was named Little Boy and the bomb on Nagasaki was named Fat Man. The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki marked the end of World War II on 15th August. In Japan, the survivors of the bombing are known as Hibakusha which means explosion-affected people. There is 650000 Hibakusha in Japan that is recognized by the Government. The court battle of the Japanese victims of radioactive radiation after the nuclear attacks continues 76 years later.

In 2022, nine countries possess over 13,000 nuclear warheads. However, the exact number of these bombs is difficult to know as it is kept confidential by the governments.
