Summary: FAME India is part of the National Electricity Mobility Mission Plan, and the government launched the FAME program to provide a push for early adoption and market creation for both hybrids and EVs. The FAME program covers all vehicles – two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, and buses. The incentives to be provided are based on the type and make of any given vehicle.

FAME India Scheme Phase-II Online Registration Process
The Government of India has sanctioned 670 Electric buses in the states of Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat and Chandigarh and 241 Charging Stations in Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Gujarat and Port Blair under Phase-II of FAME India Scheme. The main objective of the scheme is to encourage faster adoption of electric and hybrid vehicles by way of offering upfront incentive on purchase of electric vehicles and also by way of establishing necessary charging infrastructure for EV. The second phase of the scheme will be implemented over a period of three years with effect from April 1, 2019.

Fame India Scheme 2022: Online Application Form PDF Download – The FAME program was launched in 2015 and was successful in increasing the share of hybrid and EV passenger vehicles from zero in FY 2012-13 to 1.3% in the FY 2015-16. The EV industry sold 156,000 electric vehicles in the financial year 2019-20. Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles in India (FAME-India) Scheme is launched under National Mission on Electric Mobility in 2011/ National Electric Mobility Mission Plan 2020, unveiled in 2013.
Two phases of the scheme:
Fame India Scheme Phase IFaster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid and) Electric Vehicles in India (FAME) scheme was launched in the year 2015 as a part of the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP) 2020, by Department of Heavy Industry under the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Transportation, Government of India. The scheme was launched to promote the manufacturing of hybrid and electric vehicles technology in the country to ensure sustainable growth of the same. The phase-I of the scheme was launched for 2 years from 1st April 2015 but was extended up to 31st March 2019. In the First Phase of the Scheme upto 31st March 2019, about 2,80,987 hybrid and electric vehicles were supported by way of demand incentive, amounting to about Rs 359 crore. Further, DHI sanctioned 425 electric and hybrid buses to various cities in the country with total cost of about Rs. 280 Crores. The 1st Phase of FAME India Scheme was implemented through four focus areas:
Fame India Scheme Phase IIAt present, Phase-II of FAME India Scheme is being implemented for a period of 3 years w.e.f. 01st April, 2019 with a total budgetary support of Rs. 10,000 crore. This phase aims to support, through subsidies, approximately 7000 e-Buses, 5 lakh e-3 Wheelers, 55000 e-4 Wheeler Passenger Cars and 10 lakh e-2 Wheelers. In 3-Wheel (W) and 4-Wheel (W) segment incentives will be applicable mainly to vehicles used for public transport or registered for commercial purposes. In the 2-Wheel (W) segment, the focus will be on the private vehicles. In a big push towards electric mobility the Government has sanctioned 670 Electric buses in the states of Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat and Chandigarh and 241 Charging Stations in Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Gujarat and Port Blair under Phase-II of FAME India Scheme.
