The government has started the facility of online linking of passport numbers with vaccination certificates. A new option has come in the Co-WIN portal, through which users can link their vaccine certificate (COVID Vaccine Certificate) with their passport number.

The Aarogya Setu app also shared the process for updating or correcting passport details in the certificates. “Now, you can update your passport number in your vaccination certificate,” the government said.
This will make it easier for Indians traveling abroad to provide information about vaccination at the airport in the near future.
For people who have already been vaccinated and have used a different photo ID, they will have to log in to their account on the official CoWIN website. There, an option of “Raise Issue” will appear within the account details section. Users will be able to see three different options there- Merge Multiple Dose Provisional Certificates, Certificate Correction and Add Passport Details. From there, users can add their passport details.

How to link your passport with your Covid-19 vaccine certificate?
Users can link their passport by visiting the Cowin website (cowin.gov.in). Let’s learn how?
To link the passport to the COVIN certificate, first of all, open the browser on your phone or laptop.
Step 1- If you have already been vaccinated using a different photo ID, Visit the Official Website of COWIN Portal i.e. www.cowin.gov.in.

Step 2- On the Homepage, Click on the Option “Register/ Log in to Yourself” button.

Step 3- The Register or SignIn for Vaccination page will be displayed on the screen.
Step 4- Now, Log in using your registered mobile number and enter the OTP sent on your mobile number.
If you have a different profile linked to the same number, just tap on the one in which you want to add the passport number.
Step 5- Once you are logged in, click on the “Raise Issue” button in the “Account Details” section.

Step 6- You will see three options — Certificate Correction; Merge Multiple Dose #1 Provisional Certificates and Add Passport Details.
Now tap on the ‘passport’ option from the list and select the person from the drop-down menu. You will be redirected to a page where you can select the name of the member whose passport details you would like to add.
Step 7- Enter their passport number in the “Enter Beneficiary’s Passport Number” section.

Step 8- Once you have double-checked the passport number to make sure it is correct, tick the box that says “I declare that this passport belongs to the beneficiary. The name of the passport holder is the same as mentioned on the vaccine certificate.”
After this, click on the “Submit Request” button.
You will receive a message on the registered mobile number confirming that your request has been submitted. It is likely to take a few seconds to process, after which you will receive another message stating that your request has been “updated successfully”.
Step 6- Go back to the Account Details page and click on the “Certificate” button next to the name of the account to which you have added passport details. You will be able to download your new vaccine certificate linked to your passport.
Note: If you are yet to register on CoWIN and plan to travel soon, you can choose your passport as your photo ID proof while registering yourself.
Important Point – The thing to note is that to do this linking, their passport should have the same name as in the vaccination certificate. However, if the name in the certificate is misplaced, the option to change the name is also available on the portal, but this option can be used only once. So people need to be careful while using it and make sure that all the changes are done at the same time.
How to Change Name in Vaccination Certificate as per Passport Online on CoWIN Portal

Step 4- Then click on the ‘Correction in certificate’ option and select the person, whose details you want to change, from the drop-down menu.
