CEIR Portal 2020: Stolen mobile complaint Online Application Form

ABOUT Stolen mobile complaint
CEIR Portal 2020: Report lost phone India, mobile lost complaint online India Online Application Form PDF Download Now an official government portal exists for lost or stolen smartphones, you can also block your device to prevent it from being misused. Recall that in September 2019, the Central Equipment Identity Register or, say, CEIR was launched in Mumbai. Earlier this service was started in Maharashtra but now it has been started for Delhi-NCR as well.

Department of Telecommunications has been working on Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) since 2017. This is a database of IMEIs (International Mobile Equipment Identity). It is a 15-digit unique number that identifies mobile devices as India has over a billion wireless subscribers.

Initiating this initiative, Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that in view of the country’s technology and digital progress, security of mobile phones is necessary. From this portal www.ceir.gov.in you will be requested to close your lost and stolen phone. Not only this, information traceable to the phone can be shared with police officers.

Telecom subscribers whose phones get stolen or those who lose their phones can log into the web portal from today and register their complaints. They will have to upload the police complaint and their own ID proof. Based on this, the lost mobile will be blocked. Also if someone uses it, the same can be traced based on the tower signals so the police can also recover the device.

What is CEIR?

A Central Equipment Identity Register is a database of the IMEI numbers of blacklisted handsets. In case a device ESN or IMEI number is listed on CEIR, then it will not work on member service provider networks. This means if a person’s mobile is stolen, then user can make a report to put their IMEI no. entered into CEIR. This will make device unusable in any network in case of stolen / lost mobile phone.

IMEI number

IMEI number is a unique number, which is given to every mobile. If your phone is stolen, you will need an IMEI number while filing an FIR at the police station. Its full form is the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number. If your mobile has been stolen, you can take it from your mobile phone bill and its box as well. But it should never be shared with any outsider. Apart from this, by dialing * # 06 # in the phone beforehand, you can also note the IMEI number.

Objectives of CEIR Portal 2020

SCHEME OBJECTIVE
The launch of the portal, www.ceir.gov.in, for Delhi-NCR subscribers will facilitate requests for blocking of stolen or lost mobile phones by customers, blocking of such mobile phones across various mobile networks, allowing services to other existing customers having mobile phones with the same International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number, sharing of traceability data with police authorities, as well as unblocking of recovered phones.
